My name is Rehbecca Lowder and I began sewing when I was 14 years old after my great grandmother helped me sew my first quilt. Taking to the art right away, I quickly began making quilts and crocheting baby afghans for all the new parents in my church. Sewing off and on throughout the years as time permits, I believe that sewing is a stress reliever of sorts and FUN!
My first home business went into motion after I became a mother for the second time, and just couldnt bare to be apart from my children that God had blessed me with. Taking the plunge after maternity leave into a permanent leave, I purchased a commercial consew. My business was centered around baby quilts and hand made bears.
Throughout the years, my stay at home career has taken on many faces, until Planet Applique was born. My Husband, Corey, and I handle customer inquiries, devise art project to digitize and make administrative decisions as husband and wife.
I personally thank God above for the opportunity to put the abilities and skills He has bestowed on me to good use. Because of the Lord, I have the energy each day to digitize wonderful new designs that can help women everywhere save money, fulfill their artistic sewing passions, and even start their own businesses with the things they create. It's rewarding to know that Planet Applique can be of help. Without God, Planet Applique would not be here.
I own a Brother PR-1000e embroidery machine and have many years of sewing experience. I also have 12 years of graphic artistic design and designed modules and programming for many of your favorite embroidery websites!
My Hobbies and Other Things About Me:
I have always been crafting and loved all things art related. In my downtime, which I get very little of, I do other crafts. I am able to work on reborning about 2 hours each month. Reborning is where you buy a blank vinyl doll kit that has been sculpted into realistic baby and then you paint it. After many layers of painting, hair is then inserted one hair at a time into the head for a ultra realistic head of hair. They are called reborn art dolls. I also work on silicone babies, which feel exactly, and are weighed exactly like a real baby. I specialize in ethnic reborn babies. I do this only for relaxation and enjoyment, to get back to my roots of painting. The pictures below are not a real baby, it is a reborn baby doll that I painted.
We breed West Highland White Terriers, and care of pets can be very time consuming for everyone in the family. The kids learn to do chores especially with the animals. In addition to the four westies we care for, we also have two Ragdoll Kitties who are very sweet and enjoy antagonizing our pooches. They all get along pretty well despite all the furbabies sharing a space with us in our home.
We also homeschool our three kids. So day to day life is very full. Homeschooling provides a lot of opportunity to teach our kids the way we want, so instill in them the character they need to succeed in life, and to train them up at a young age how to work, about the Lord. Even though being at home provides flexibility, our schedule can be hectic most days. Emails, sewing, and designing make up the bulk of my day. Time is carved out for helping the kids stay on track with school work, and I always make sure to spend qaulity time with them and my husband.
